EMDR Intensives
Do you want to do intensive work on trauma? Accelerate therapy you’re already doing? Intensive EMDR could help.
What is EMDR?
During Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) you activate memory networks, bringing unconsciously activating material into working memory where it can be reprocessed — this leads to an effective “rewiring,” where negative beliefs about self and stuck negative feelings and somatic sensations can be released. It differs from traditional talk therapy, lending itself well to an intensive format. It can help with:
PTSD * anxiety
single-incident traumas * depression
attachment wounds * obsessive-compulsive disorder
issues related to substance abuse & eating disordered recovery
The Adaptive Information Processing model, EMDR’s theoretical underpinning (link: https://emdr-europe.org/about/the-aip-model/), holds that your brain can heal itself when given the chance. Results from intensives have been shown to equal results gained over the same period of time in accumulated weekly sessions. Various EMDR protocols, Internal Family Systems, Ego State Therapy, somatic interventions, and CBT assist as well.
Currently offering extended EMDR sessions – Telehealth, Mondays through Wednesdays, 4 hours/day, 12-4pm for Washington State-based folks, 2-6pm if you’re in Illinois. I offer a free :45 minute intake where we can discuss options. Usually 2-10 sessions recommended. $720 per 4-hour block.

Please contact me here with some good times to call you. A 45 minute free intake call comes first, where we’d discuss options.

If you struggle with active self-harm and suicidal urges, life-threatening substance use, or violent behavior, an intensive wouldn’t be a good fit. If you struggle with emotion dysregulation and severe dissociation, an intensive might also not be right for you right now, but we could talk about it!

A 4 hour block runs 720.00 USD. A common amount to spend would be 28800.00 USD, with a likely maximum of 7200.00 USD.
This serves as a Good Faith Estimate; please let me know if you’d like this written out beyond this page, as it’s your legal right to receive if you wish for one.

Not necessarily, but it’s a good idea. I need to know you’ll be okay if material comes up that needs further reprocessing. This doesn’t always happen, but it sometimes does. If you already work with a therapist, please fill out a Release of Information prior to beginning the intensive. They could contact me at callanbarrettlicsw@gmail.com, or call at217-688-1357

Just clear some time in your schedule and relax as much as possible! During an intensive and for a few days after you might feel your psyche continuing to weave itself together in new ways - please be gentle with yourself. Also, I’ll send you a fillable workbook you might want to peruse prior to meeting.
